This assignment gives the student the opportunity to use Single Subject Design (SSD) in a tangible way. Each student will choose an intervention to put into place in his/her own life. We will explore various ideas via discussion forums. Part one will help you to crystallize your plan of action. You will submit an outline for your SSD. I will give you feed back for Part two which will involve writing a 5-8 page proposal based on your outline. All writing should be 12-point Arial font and have appropriate APA style formatting and citation. . Part One

Purpose: This assignment gives the student the opportunity to use Single Subject Design (SSD) in a tangible way, in your own way. Each student will choose an intervention to put into place in his/her own life. What type of change would you like to make in your life? Students in past classes have lost weight with healthy lifestyle changes, reduced stress levels, lowered their blood pressure, gotten their diabetes or other illness under control, saved money, started dating, organized their lives, addressed depression or anxiety. Would you like to learn a new skill? Students have learned time management, a foreign language, how to grow their hair and/or fingernails, sleep hygiene, or potty train your dog. We will explore various ideas in class.

Your first exercise Part One will help you to crystallize your plan of action by completing a comprehensive outline which can be found below. It would be a helpful tool to use when we meet online or in private meetings. Part two will be a paper that is based on, but expanded plan of action and the implementation of your plan. This paper will be 5-8 pages in APA citation style and citation.

The Single Subject Design exercise will be evaluated according to the following criteria:

1. Part 1: Clarity of the design plan in outline form.

2. Part 2: Clarity and expansion of your outline. Do not include the outline. This will be a research paper including a problem statement, a short literature review that supports your interventions (IVs), your research design, and barriers to implementation that you might face if conducting this design.

Examination of Peer-Reviewed Articles Relevant to your SSD Proposal (This is for your own use do not submit this)

Briefly review of current published works relevant to your topic of interest. (5 articles published within 5 years). The works can be studies or reports that help clarify the problem/issue you are working on, problem definition(s), or that contain useful examples of measures, appropriate designs, examples of analyses, etc.
