This version of your draft action research proposal should include 3 parts in the following order: 1) Revised introduction section; 2) new Methodology section; and 3) Revised and update reference list. This will result in the first, complete, rough draft of your action research proposal.

Revised Introduction section: This section is based on the text you submitted a few weeks ago and should include any additional learning from course material, reading, and/or feedback from the instructor and any revisions of existing text. I will be checking that relevant course content components have been added. The revision requirement will be factored into this paper’s grade and is the reason you are required to submit both a clean version and a track changes version (see the note below).

Methodology Section: In the section, you will describe the research methods (or methodology) that you will use to address your research question. You will apply course material and additional readings as necessary. This section should allow other researchers to replicate your research. The methods section should be at least two pages of text (not including title and reference pages or your introduction section). You must adhere to current edition of APA guidelines. No abstract is required at this stage (but it will be in Phase III for Academic Style Projects).

Revised Reference list: The revised reference list is based on the list you submitted earlier and should include any new cites you have identified as relevant to your study, as well as any revisions in format to ensure compliance with APA 7th edition. These cites should cover all material relevant to your Introduction and your Methodology sections.

This paper will be evaluated on the following components:

  • Participants: Potential participants section is discussed with justification for demographics. (15 pts)
  • Study Design: The general design is explained, accurately demonstrating learning of the course material. (20 pts)
  • Procedure: Study procedure is outlined explaining, recruitment, data collection and process, process for after data collection, and anticipated data analyses. This section should also demonstrate that ethical standards are met. (20 pts)
  • Measures: Description of each measure/inventory expected for use is described, including required reliability, sample items, implementation method, and anticipated limitation for using the measure. If measurement is not used in your study, major concepts must be clearly defined. (20 pts)
  • APA Style and Grammar (and Basic Requirements): Paper meets APA style requirements in terms of general formatting, section headers, citations, references, font, text size, title page, etc. This is in accordance with the 7th edition of the APA manual. The paper should also be written with little to no grammatical errors. Basic formatting requirements and general expectations are met. (20 pts)
  • Revisions: The paper has made appropriate revisions based on comments/feedback by the instructor in the prior phase AND on new, relevant material learned in the course. (15 pts)

**Note. For the method and final proposal, you will be required to submit two versions of the document. 1) typical upload of the word document, free of comments, notes, etc. (we call this a “Clean Version” and 2) a Track Changes version. Track changes will show me what changes you made in the revisions from the prior submission. This is extremely important for accurate grading. Failure to not submit a track changes version and a clean version will both delay my ability to get assignments back to you AND result in a 10pts deduction on the assignment’s grade.
