Expand Upon Your Research

Include as much detail as possible about your study including the following sections: introduction, problem statement, purpose of the study, research question(s), methodology, purpose, and a summary of themes from the data collection/analysis process.

Brief introduction:
In this you should include (1) brief background on the topic and (2) an acknowledgment of the research paradigm used for this assignment. Note that even if the source of your topic is not scholarly, you must search the literature for way to approach the topic through a problem statement grounded in the literature.

Problem Statement:
For any topic (related to leadership) in which you’re interested, develop a problem statement. This section should include a concise statement of the problem and one or two scholarly articles that document the problem. The problem statement should include “what, why, and for whom”.

Remember that the problem should be related to leadership. Find a source in the published scholarly literature to back up your problem. I strongly advise reading through the entire assignment (maybe even several times) before starting. Back up your problem statement with one published literature citation. Even if you think your problem is the #1 problem in the entire world, you must find a scholarly source to back you up. For your topic area, write up a one-sentence problem. Please include your reference information. Sources should be no older than 5 years. Please study the course material provided on research problems before beginning this assignment.

Examples:

1. The problem is that among United States public school teachers, some very good teachers are choosing to leave the profession due to feelings of burnout (Byrne, 1994).
2. The problem is that many popular films, which can heavily influence public perception, portray most teachers as being inept (Joseph & Burnaford, 1994).

Purpose of the Study:
Briefly describe the purpose of the proposed study. The purpose should be logically connected to the problem.

Research Questions:
Develop research questions that will address the stated problem and help you satisfy the purpose of the study.

Methodology:
Select a methodology and methods appropriate for your research questions.

Proposed Framework(s):
This section should include a discussion of your prosed theoretical and interpretive frameworks. Your discussion should include a rationale for how your chosen frameworks are methodologically relevant to the study proposed.

Summary of themes:
Use your infographic of themes as a guide for writing out a summary of themes derived from your data collection process. This can include connections, subthemes, or a visual model if applicable.

Papers should be written in APA format and submitted to the assignments tab in Canvas for full credit.

Conclusion:
Close with a conclusion that brings together each of the previous elements to make a case for why this study would be a significant addition to the literature in this field of study.
