Topic

You will be writing a Position Analysis on a topic of your choice. Your topic must be debatable.

• Begin with an 1-2 opening paragraph(s) introducing your topic in an interesting way– Include a statement of the issue’s seriousness or explain reasons why the issue is currently being debated. Why should we re-examine the issue?
• State your claim clearly and organize your argument in a clear, logical way
• Find relevant facts and sufficient support for the claim you are making- Remember your claim must be backed by more than your own thoughts or emotions. Take time to research facts and examples to support your claim. Explain how they support your position.
• Provide an analysis of counterclaims or the opposition’s viewpoint– What might people opposing your viewpoint argue? Explain. Is there any compromise or middle ground your claim and the opposition could share? Explain.
