According to Sanderson (2013) when a person goes through stressful, frightening, distressing events, or after a prolonged traumatic experience (complex trauma) they can develop post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD). PTSD is associated with functional and cognitive impairment that can affect a person at any age (Mann & Marwaha, 2023). Arousal symptoms can occur often and unexpectantly (Mann et al., 2023). It can lead a person to feeling stressed and angry which can interfere with their daily lives (Mann et al., 2023).

She no longer goes to the park because it is by the convenient store where she got raped, she has also alienated herself from friends and family. Since the accident she no longer experiences happy emotions. She has recurring nightmares and has trouble going to sleep.
