I chose to discuss the article titled, Knox T, Anderson LC, Heather A. (2019). Transwomen in elite sport: scientific and ethical considerations. J Med Ethics, 45(6):395-403.

1. Do you think that only allowing one to compete on sports teams based on their assigned gender at birth (rather than their chosen gender identity) violates the principle of inclusion?

2. Are there any disadvantages for trans-women when competing on sports teams with cis-women?

3. If you agree with the paper’s conclusion that the current IOC guidelines are poorly drawn and do not adequately address the fairness principle, what is an alternative proposition for new guidelines that could be used instead?

Discussiion #2: Public-private partnerships are increasingly impactful in global health work. In fact, Sustainable Development Goal #17 highlights the importance of strong commitment to such partnerships. Many corporations have instituted corporate social responsibility (CSR) projects in which they work with government and bilateral agencies to promote health and well-being. However, some people have questioned the ethics involved in partnerships.
