Though Massasoit looked at the English as potential allies to their own political rivals, Metacom’s view towards the English colonist was more pessimistic, especially after the death of his brother Wamsutta and with the English colonist continuing to ignore treaties. Metacom would form alliances with other nations in his fight against English colonization.
