1. Identify and briefly describe 1 of Weber’s ideas not included in last week’s summary and covered in this week’s assigned pages. For example, one of Durkheim’s ideas covered a few weeks ago was “anomie.” If you chose to write about anomie, your task was to describe/discuss it. This week, do the same with one of Weber’s ideas.
2. Locate the idea you have summarized within the questions of order and action discussed in the first lecture. That is, indicate whether it reflects the collectivist or individualist approach (order), and the rationalist or non-rationalist approach (action), and how so.
3. What are your thoughts about the idea you selected? Your reaction might be any of the following: (1) whether you agreed or disagreed with the position or argument (if applicable) and why (2) the applicability or not of the idea to your own life and/or the lives of those around you (3) how useful the idea or argument has been for understanding your own life and/or current events (4) how things you saw or heard in the media and pop culture relate to and make more (or less) sense because of this idea.
